The origin of Eagle Eyes Sunglasses began at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory where scientists developed ground breaking technology that would protect human eyesight from the harmful effects of solar radiation light.

NASA researchers first looked to nature for a solution, in particular, by studying how eagles and hawks can distinguish their prey from their surroundings with such precision.

Almost all animals respond to light. But it is the eagle, and other birds of prey, that have been given the gift of unparalled visual acuity to meet their own specific requirements, such as spotting of tiny prey amongst their surroundings while viewed from high in the air.

Their findings revealed that eagles have unique oil droplets in their eyes that selectively filter out harmful radiation and permit only specific wavelengths of light to enter their eyes, giving them extremely powerful visual clarity, even at great distances.

NASA replicated this discovery into a lens technology that has resulted in Eagle Eyes Sunglasses.

Many conventional sunglasses can interfere with or even harm vision. Conventional sunglasses mostly have dark lenses, which indiscriminately block much of the useful light without regard for hazardous wavelengths and so reduce visibility, clarity, definition and shadow perception.

Poor eye protection can also lead to age related macular degeneration, night blindness and retinitis pigmentosa as well as a number of serious eye diseases such as cataracts, conjunctivitis, photokeratisis, photothalmia, snow blindness, sunburned corneas and even cancer of the eyelid.
