Reishi is a very rare mushroom and one of the most reserved botanicals in Chinese Medicine. Because of it's auspiciousness and rarity they were reserved solely for the Emperors of Imperial China.
Chinese Emperors throughout the various dynasties ordered servants to search for wild Reishi atop distant mountains believing the consumption of the Mushroom would grant them eternal youth and enhanced health.
References to the use of Reishi date back more than 200 years and in classical Chinese Herbal Text, Reishi has been classified as 'The Most Superior Herb' surpassing even that of Ginseng!
It was not until the late 20th Century, through diligent cultivation by the Japanese that Reishi became more widely available to the general public.
The key to Reishi Mushroom's effectiveness are their adaptogenic qualities. These properties help normalise the body and it's natural processes via active substances found in the mushrooms such as water soluble polysaccharides and triterpenes.
What makes Mikei Red Reishi Essence so special?
The amazing quality of Red Reishi is based largely on how they are grown.
Mikei Red Reishi are grown using a unique process known as 'Whole Wood Log Cultivation Technology'. This was first introduced in 1971 in Japan by the Mayuzumi family.
After germinating, the growing mushrooms are placed into holes in Japanese Oak Logs and buried under nutritious soil for 5 months. After surfacing, the mushrooms continue growing to maturity with the whole process taking about one year.
'Whole Wood Log Cultivation' is proven to be more reliable than wild grown Reishi and the fertiliser and pollutant free environment in which mushrooms are grown ensures the crop will grow under optimal nutritional and natural conditions. A requirement in maximising the mecidinal value of the mushrooms.
The finished extract is then formed using the Water Extraction Method where the mushrooms are boiled 3 times for 2 hours before being powered producing a higher quality more concentrated extract.
