What's in Shark Liver Oil?

Bells Shark Liver Oil is rich in AKG Alkyglycerols, Squalamine, Squaline and Omega 3 EFA.

AKG Alkyglycerols are found naturally in mothers milk and immune related organs, assisting stem cells in their production of blood, helping to strengthen the healthy cells of the body and maintaining immune health.

Studies show that AKG Alkyglycerols may work by priming the immune system to increase production of White Blood Cells (Leucocytes) to normal levels and encouraging growth of Antibodies.

In addition, observations in Sweden and further studies on the protective effects of calf bone marrow rich in AKG Alkyglycerols against the adverse effects of radiation therapy may support the use of AKG Alkyglycerols to ease the harsh side effects of cancer chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

In animal studies, Squalamine in Shark Liver Oil has shown some ability to fight cancers of the breast, lung, brain, and skin melanoma, specifically by choking off the tumor's blood supply. People studies are under way. Squalamine is also being studied for use against macular degeneration. Shark Liver Oil also contains high levels of Squaline, an antioxidant and bacteria fighter, which may also have cell protective effects and may help reduce the side effects of chemotherapy.

No sharks are ever killed just for their oil

The shark known for the highest AKG Alkyglycerols are the Squalidae. Swimming at depths of 3,500 to 5,000 feet below the ocean surface in the unpolluted waters of the South Pacific and North Sea, they become trapped in nets set by deep sea fisherman. Since they can't be returned to the sea, their livers are harvested immediately, carefully handled, and delivered to laboratories for processing and purification.

The oil therefore is only available as a by product of the commercial fishing industry and endangered sharks are not allowed to be killed solely for their oil.
