Bacterial imbalance in the Vagina
Different types of bacteria live naturally in the Vagina. Normally, the bacteria present in the largest numbers are Lactic Acid Bacteria. Lactic Acid Bacteria produce acidifying Lactic Acid, which maintains the normal low pH of the Vagina and protects against infection.
If the numbers of Lactic Acid Bacteria are reduced and pH levels rise, there is a growth of Bad Bacteria. This condition is known as Bacterial Vaginosis or BV. The main symptoms are embarrassing odour, abnormal discharges and discomfort in the Vagina.
What causes this Bacterial imbalance?
Bacterial Vaginosis BV can be caused by a number of factors including
Prolonged Periods
Use of the Coil
Frequent douching
Perfumed intimate products
Pre Menopausal to Post Menopausal hormonal imbalances
Sex without a condom. Semen has a higher pH level in the Vagina

What are the symptoms?
The main symptom is usually a thin white grey coloured discharge which often has a fishy smell. The discharge tends to be heaviest just after a period and after having sex. The smell is most noticeable when having sex. Other symptoms include discomfort and irritation.
To use
BALANCE ACTIV VAGINAL GEL comes in hygienic single use tubes. To use the product, simply twist the cap off the tube, insert the whole of the neck of the tube into the Vagina and squeeze out the contents. The tube can then be removed and disposed of.
For the rapid, effective relief of embarrassing odour, abnormal discharge and discomfort, use 1 tube daily for 7 days.
Many women experience recurrent symptoms, for example around the time of their period, or as a result of antibiotic treatment. BALANCE ACTIV VAGINAL GEL can also be used to maintain the natural acidity of the Vagina and prevent recurrence.
To maintain the natural pH balance and prevent recurrence of symptoms, use 1 to 2 tubes a week.
To help maintain the pH level during a course of antibiotics, use 1 tube daily at the end of the course for 4 to 5 days.
