Description:
Hypoallergenic wax pearls with no scents or dyes added to irritate sensitive skin together with 20 liners to extend the heat treatment for added therapeutic benefit.
How to set up the ParaSpa Deluxe unit:
Remove all contents from packaging and check to make sure you have all of the following components of the HOMEDICS PARASPA PARRAFIN WAX BATH.
Paraffin bath tub
Plastic lid
Plastic grate
Paraffin Wax Pearls
60 plastic liners
To operate:
Place the unit on a level and sturdy table or surface and remove the lid. Make sure the HOMEDICS PARASPA PARRAFIN WAX BATH is empty before putting wax into tub.
Open the bags of Paraffin Wax and place wax into the tub, always keeping the level of paraffin wax filled to the "MIN" level marked on the inside of the tub.
Plug in the unit and the green LED light indicates when the unit is plugged in. The red light will turn on and off as the heating element works.
The unit is automatically turned "on" when it is plugged in. If not used in 48 to 72 hours, turn dial down to "SOLID". If not used for weeks at a time unplug unit and store in a cool, dry place.
To melt the paraffin wax, turn the dial to "MELT" and the paraffin wax should melt in less than 12 hours and usually in under 4-5 hours.
The red LED light indicates that the heater element is operating. Place the lid onto the top of the unit. Then turn the dial to "WARM" after paraffin wax is completely melted.
Once completely melted, remove the lid and place the grate into the wax and allow it to sink to the bottom of the tub.
Place the lid back onto the top of the unit. Wait about 1 hour for the paraffin wax to cool down to an ideal temperature before using.
If the wax starts to solidify or flakes form on the top surface, turn the dial clockwise to increase the temperature.
Always test the paraffin temperature on the inside of the wrist area before dipping your entire hand, foot or elbow.
NEVER dip your hand, foot or elbow into the HOMEDICS PARASPA PARRAFIN WAX BATH while the unit is in "MELT" mode and place the grate into the unit only when the paraffin wax is melted.
How to use the paraffin treatment:
Before immersing your hand, elbow, or foot, test the paraffin wax on the inside of your wrist to make sure the temperature of the wax is comfortable.
Ideally, wash the area to be treated and apply lanolin-based hand lotion over the area before dipping it into the paraffin wax. This will allow the wax to be removed more easily and will help moisturise the skin.
Dip your hand, elbow, or foot into the melted paraffin wax and remove immediately. Wait a few seconds until the wax solidifies. Try to avoid moving your hand, foot, or elbow while wax is applied.
The dipping process is quick. Do not leave your hand, foot or elbow in the tub. Do not soak. Dip quickly in and out.
Repeat this step several times until several layers have formed, 6-10 coatings are suggested.
If the paraffin wax temperature is too hot or too cold, adjust the temperature accordingly.
Turn the dial clockwise to increase the paraffin wax temperature or counter-clockwise to reduce the paraffin wax temperature.
For longer heat treatment, place the plastic liner provided over the treated area and twist bag at opening.
Keep the paraffin wax and liner on treated area for 10-20 minutes for ultimate therapy.
When using the paraffin bath with plastic liners on your feet, do not walk around! This may cause you to slip and fall.
Peel off the wax from the treated area. If using a plastic liner, peel the plastic lining from the area being treated. Paraffin wax will peel off with liner and discard the used wax.
If you are the only person using the HOMEDICS PARASPA PARRAFIN WAX BATH, the wax can be re-used, simply put it back into the tub to re-melt.
How do I remove the paraffin wax if I have spilled it?
Allow the paraffin wax to cool and harden. For porous surfaces, scrape off as much wax as possible. Use either a blow dryer or steam iron (on top of a paper towel) to melt the excess paraffin wax. Use a clean cloth or paper towels to blot the remaining paraffin wax. Mineral spirits (available at most grocery, hardware and discount stores) can be used to remove any traces of wax. Spot removers may also be used prior to washing. Place item in the washing machine. Always check the garment’s cleaning instructions before laundering. Contact your local cleaner for recommendations. For carpet, follow the same instructions as listed above. However, if there is a question about colourfastness and the use of mineral spirits, you should test a small area first or consult a commercial cleaner. For non-porous surfaces, first remove any pieces of solidified paraffin wax by scraping with an object that won't scratch the surface. Then use an all-purpose cleaner (such as Formula 409 or Soft Scrub). Before using the cleaner, read the label to verify that the cleaner can be used on the surface in question.
How frequently can I use the paraffin bath?
There is no limit on how often you should dip to either moisturise or relieve pain.
Can I put the paraffin wax back in the unit after I have peeled it off?
If your paraffin bath is for your own personal use, then yes, you can place the used wax back into the tub for re-melting. This will also save you from having to refill it as often. However, if you do reuse the paraffin wax, you will have to clean the unit more often, due to additional debris.
Should my paraffin wax be solidifying when I have the setting on "keep warm"?
It is not uncommon for your paraffin to get a film on the top or solidify while in the "keep warm" setting. Turn the dial to the right to melt the paraffin wax at least one hour before use. It also helps to stir the wax as it is melting, to speed things up.
Why does the paraffin bath not have an On/Off switch?
The paraffin bath is not designed to be turned on and off frequently and therefore does not need an On/Off switch. We recommend that you unplug your unit if you do not intend to use it in a 48- to 72-hour period.
How can I get more wax?
Available are a 0.9Kgs Refill Bag of Wax Pearls that also comes with 20 liners.
